Hadleigh Jazz Club October 14th & London Trip

October 14, 2023 @ 7:30 pm
Hadleigh Jazz Club October 14th & London Trip

On October 14th, at 7.30pm, irrepressible leader of the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra; Pete Long, celebrates the music of the most joyous of the great saxophonists, Julian ‘Cannonball’ Adderley. From the Soul Jazz albums made with his brother Nat, to the elegant, linear work on Miles Davis’ Kind Of Blue, Cannonball’s infectious and life-affirming sense of goodwill pervaded all that he touched. Expect hits like Mercy, Mercy, Mercy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4rXEKtC8iY and Work Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlepuNi40M8 alongside curiosities like The Jive Samba https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpkN8nR0EEg and Cannonball’s own treatment of Fiddler On The Roof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8Zc2GmCq7c.

Pete will be joined by our old friend, and former Musical Director at the National Theatre Mr Paul Higgs on Trumpet, the BBC Strictly band’s Jim Watson on Piano, Geoff Gascoyne on bass and myself on Drums.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday 2nd Sept at 10am here https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/Hadleigh-jazz-club We look forward to seeing you if you’re free.

We’re also doing another London Trip on Tuesday 5th December. The violin virtuoso Ben Holder will join the Chris Ingham Trio in their annual residency at the Pizza Express Dean Street for a Christmas Cabaret Lunch show at 1pm and we’ll run a Beestons coach down to Soho for the event. Leaving Magdalen Rd at 8.45pm and back at about 5.45pm. Tickets for this event are also at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/Hadleigh-jazz-club and they go on sale at 10am on Sat too.
