Carbon ‘Question Time’

February 28, 2024 @ 7:30 pm
HEAT

Tackling climate change is getting urgent.  Having talked it through with quite a few of you and done a lot of research about funding and what works, we reckon it’s time to move up a gear and begin to really get Hadleigh moving. So, in April we will be launching a campaign to help everyone make the changes that are needed to save the planet. Part of this will help people to reduce their carbon footprint and part is setting up a community energy project. This might focus on saving money (and CO2) by retrofitting houses with insulation, double glazing etc. Or it might kick start a large scale project to generate energy from PV panels in the town. Or we might do both (but then we’d definitely need everyone to help!)

We haven’t yet finalised all the details (not least the best name for the campaign – all ideas welcome!) but we’re kicking off with a Carbon ‘Question Time’ event on Wednesday February 28th at 7.30pm at the Baptist Church, George Street with experts on Net Zero, PV panels and solar energy, building design and insulation. This will be followed up with other activities such as market stalls, leaflets and more events.

We think this is both exciting and really important  – climate change isn’t going away any time soon and the sooner we begin taking the next steps, the better.

If you want to help just email back and we’ll tell you what and how you can get involved. Otherwise we hope to see you at 7.30pm on Wednesday 28th Feb at the Baptist Church Community Room, George Street.
