SUMMARY:Hadleigh Old School Presents ‘Stones In His Pockets’: Two actors\, fifteen characters\, one rip-roaring comedy
DESCRIPTION:Hadleigh Old School\, the arts and entertainment venue\, at 3-5 Bridge Street Hadleigh IP7 6BY will be hosting the Eastern Angles Theatre Company’s latest production on Saturday 23rd March 2024. \n‘Stones In His Pockets’ by Marie Jones and directed by Jake Smith and starring Cathal Ryan as Jake and Lorcan Strain as Charlie. \nVenture across the Irish Sea to County Kerry.  Local lads Jake and Charlie are working as extras on a Hollywood epic movie that has taken over their small village in rural Ireland.  Switching from plucky Irish extra to know-it-all American movie star with a flick of the wrist\, the pair take on all 15 characters to tell the story of the impact this movie has on their local community.  The result is a sad\, hilarious\, and irresistible play that pushes the boundaries of storytelling.  Suitable for audiences aged 14+. \nInspired by the cinematic stylings of Wes Anderson\, Eastern Angles are also adding newly composed music and video projection to the multi-award-winning play.  A hit in Dublin\, Edinburgh and London’s West End\, Stones In His Pockets is a chance for audiences to laugh\, cry and revel in the power of theatricality. \nThe play will be performed at Hadleigh Old School on Saturday 23rd at 7.30pm.  Doors open at 6.30pm with a licensed bar available pre-show\, during the interval and afterwards. \nTickets are available from the theatre company website: \nhttps://easternangles.co.uk/venue/hadleigh-old-school Box Office 01473 211498

SUMMARY:"Darkness and light are both alike” – Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Maiden art show by The Very Revd Jo Delfgou\, including many bodyform pictures in striking black and white strokes\, capturing the beauty of the female body.  Father Jo often discusses the art of creation with Chattisham artist Cris Coe\, and she makes a return visit to Hadleigh Old School gallery presenting her most recent work alongside that of the Dean. \nFather Jo speaks about the inspiration for his work: “In an attempt to encourage my older son during his Art A level\, I found some chalks I had been given as a present a few years before. Inspired by the beauty of the female form and the way shadow and light work together to create form\, I found an excitement in drawing. Moving to Hadleigh and to the Deanery four years ago allowed me to have an attic room that could be left ready for “art”. And the encouragement of other local artists and art lovers has seen my desire to draw grow. The images are all chalk on black or white paper and focus on “dark and light” creating form together. Likewise\, some of the images present a darkness that is often ignored. The title of the exhibition is a line from a Psalm – that part of holy writing that is very honest and points out the complexity of being human!” \nExamples of Father Jo’s work can be seen below– as well as studies of humanity\, he has also produced landscapes and floral works\, with pictures available in a range of sizes and at affordable prices. \nSpecial Preview at 7pm on Friday 18th November – please email hadleigholdschool@gmail.com to attend. \nThen free public entry 10am-5pm Saturday 19th November and 11am-4pm Sunday 20th November.
