December 9 @ 16:00 - 19:00
The Hadleigh Christmas Lighting-Up Ceremony will take place at on Saturday, 9th December. The ceremony will commence at 4.30pm with a performance by the Hadleigh Community Choir, who will also lead the carol singing, and music will be provided by the Elmsett Fellowship Brass Band. This will be followed by the lighting of the Hadleigh Christmas Tree with more music and community carols in Market Place.
Children bringing their own Christmas lanterns to take part in the Lighting-Up are invited to assemble in Church Walk at 4.00pm for the nominations of best lanterns by the Hadleigh Town Mayor. At 4.15pm, the children will then proceed from Church Walk and into Market Place to join in with the festivities. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Hadleigh Scouts will have a street food stall selling burgers, hot-dogs and hot drinks and the Women’s Institute will be selling mince pies and mulled wine, in the Ansell Centre, from 4.00pm. Further musical entertainment will be provided in the Ansell Centre.
To start off what we hope will become a new Hadleigh tradition, we would like you to encourage your children to be creative and bring their own lanterns. Specimen templates and instructions have been posted on the Forum’s Christmas Facebook page facebook.com/christmasinhadleigh but children are encouraged to create their own designs.
